Respect for All Week – Monday, February 9 – Friday, February 13, 2026

Dear AmPark Families,
You do not need to apply for your child to receive meals. However, we do ask families to complete Family Income Inquiry Form(Open external link), which helps our school receive money for our programs.
Our goal is to ensure students of all ages and backgrounds have access to tasty, nutrient-rich meals that enhance their learning experiences. Seeing students succeed in school and beyond is what drives our passion to serve high-quality meals. Our meals meet and exceed USDA standards for school meals(Open external link). We also adhere to NYC Food Standards (Open external link) for purchasing and set internal standards such as our prohibited ingredients list(Open external link). View our menu nutrition information(Open external link) for a detailed breakdown of every item offered at school.
Menu Standards
Our meals are evaluated through a USDA-certified nutritional database. We also provide an extensive nutrition evaluation considering calories, fat, sodium, total sugars, added sugars, protein, cholesterol, iron, calcium, Vitamin A, and Vitamin C. Our menu is completely pork-free. All hamburgers are 100% beef. Our chicken is certified antibiotic free and humanely raised.
Vegetarian and Vegan Options
Our daily offered menu options support students with allergy restrictions, vegetarian and vegan preferences, and religious restricted diets.. Menu items and recipes indicated with a (V) are vegetarian and (VE) are vegan. Mondays and Fridays are citywide meatless menu days.
Fruit and Vegetables
Fresh fruits and vegetables are offered daily throughout our menus and salad bars. We serve a variety of vegetables from five different subgroups (dark green, red-orange, beans-legumes, starchy, and others), ensuring our students receive a diverse nutrient profile.
Fiber
All bread and grains offered are at least 51% whole grain-rich and contain at least 2g of fiber per serving.
Water
Water is part of a healthy diet and available during all meal programs. Water fountains or refrigerated water jets are located in school cafeterias for students to enjoy.
Sustainable and Local Food
OFNS is continuously looking for products that sustain our food and ecosystem. We serve our food on compostable and biodegradable plates.
Seasonality
OFNS is consistently utilizing fresh fruit and produce based on the seasonality. Please refer to the menu for featured fresh fruit and produce offered.
Food Allergen Awareness
We want to ensure that your child receives the best care possible at school. That’s why we treat allergies, food safety, and student health with the utmost importance and work with parents at their request to create management plans for their child, so they are less likely to be exposed to allergens in school. We cannot guarantee a nut-free, milk-free, or allergen-free environment, but we do offer product documentation at request on all food items from vendors and manufacturers regarding allergens present within the food itself or at the facility level. Please provide a specific item list when requesting allergen information and product documentation. Visit our allergies webpage to learn more about our policies and forms.

Product/nutrition labels are available upon request. Parents can request labels and further information about our menu items. Please provide a specific item list when requesting allergen information product documentation.
Allergen Accommodations at the Point of Service
If a request is made at the point of service by a student or para-professional/teacher/school nurse (on student’s behalf), it will be honored by OFNS staff within reason.
Example: No cheese on fish sandwich or no bun with burger
OFNS staff are not responsible for tracking or monitoring students with food sensitivities and allergies.
Dietary Medical Accommodations
For severe allergies, an action plan and menu may be required to accommodate dietary needs. This request will be supported through a Medical Accommodations (504) Request Form or Individualized Education Program (IEP). Parent/guardian should provide all necessary documentation to the school for the accommodation.
School Administration can Email requests to OFNSMealAccomodations@schools.nyc.gov with supporting documentation. For a 504 Accommodation, please include the 504 Coordinator, Principal, School Nurse, and School Food Service Manager. A Teams meeting will be scheduled to discuss the action plan and parameters of the dietary accommodation.

What’s Happening in NYC Public Schools
June 2025
This Family Update provides important information about the end of the New York City Public Schools (NYCPS) 2024–25 school year, Summer Rising, summer school, Summer Meals, Public Schools Athletics League (PSAL) summer programs, and resources to support summer reading

End of 2024–25 School Year: The last day of school is Thursday, June 26, 2025! Visit schools.nyc.gov/calendar for important dates in June, including when Regents Exams will take place and when schools are closed in observance of recognized holidays.
Summer Rising: Get ready for a summer of adventure in learning! Summer Rising begins for all participants on July 2, and runs Monday through Friday, from 8 a.m.–6 p.m. Programming ends on August 15 for students in grades K–5 or August 8 for students in grades 6–8. Summer Rising will be closed on Friday, July 4, 2025, for Independence Day.
If you accepted your Summer Rising offer by May 8, you will receive more information leading up to the first day of the program. You can also visit schools.nyc.gov/SummerRising to stay up to date on all program details.
Summer School: Each May and June, teachers assess students’ progress to determine if they are ready for the next grade level. Families of students who have not yet made sufficient progress will be notified via letter in mid-June. If your student is in grade 3–8 and is not promoted in June, they will be required to attend summer school.
If your student did not receive a Summer Rising seat, then they will attend the academic portion only. Detailed instructions on dates and times will be in the letter. At the end of summer school, schools will make a final decision about students’ grade levels for next year.
Summer Meals: When school is out, students can still enjoy free breakfast and lunch! From June 27 through August 29, the NYCPS Free Summer Meals program offers free meals across New York City to anyone 18 years old or younger. Meals are available at select NYC public schools, community pool centers, parks, and libraries. You don’t need to sign up in advance or provide identification—just head to a Summer Meals site and enjoy a meal. Dates, locations, times, and menus are subject to change; visit schools.nyc.gov/summermeals for the latest information.

Reading is like any skill: it takes practice! Over the summer, reading together can help your child continue to develop their literacy skills and avoid any learning loss that might occur over their time outside of the classroom.
This summer, explore thousands of e-books and audiobooks in multiple languages through the NYCPS Citywide Digital Library on Sora. Log in to Sora using your NYCPS credentials at soraapp.com/library/nycschools.

The 2025 NYC School Survey administration window opens on Monday, February 10th, 2025, and will close on Friday, April 4th, 2025.
How is the School Survey information used?
Survey results support dialogue among all members of school communities about how to make their school a better place to learn. School leaders use the feedback from the survey to reflect and improve schools and programs. Survey results are also used to help measure school quality.
To review 2024 results, visit the survey results page. To view citywide results, click “NYC DOE: Citywide Results.” To view results for a specific school, type in the school’s name after selecting the “schools” icon.
How can I take the School Survey?
To access your survey, families can use your child’s nine-digit Student Identification (OSIS) number. You will enter a lower case “f” followed by your child’s OSIS number to access the survey (e.g. f123456789). Your child’s OSIS number will be provided in the take home survey and can also be found on report cards and student ID cards. Families can also take the survey directly within your NYC Schools Account (NYCSA).
Families have the option of taking the survey on paper, if you prefer, and mail in the green envelope provided. Your child is bringing home the paper copy of the school survey today, February 10th. Please note that only one family member of each child can complete the school survey.
We encourage you to make your voice heard by taking the survey as soon as you’re able and contact Parent Coordinator Elvira De Jesus, if you need any assistance.

The importance of promoting respect for diversity in our daily practice is vital to creating and sustaining an inclusive school climate and culture so that all students feel valued, supported, and safe.
During Respect for All Week, February 10-14, 2025, schools across the city will have the opportunity to highlight and build upon ongoing programs to help students, staff, and communities gain a better understanding of diversity. Schools also started new initiatives that promote respect for diversity and focus on preventing bullying, intimidation, and bias-based harassment.

Back by popular demand but with some twist. As mentioned in our last General Meeting, last year was our SweetHeart Comeback and it was a HUGE HIT!! To make sure this year is as much fun as the last one, we have to set some boundaries. This year the dance is exclusively to AmPark students and their immediate family members, that includes Mom, Dad, brother and sisters only. Every AmPark child needs to be accompanied by an adult. This year we will not be selling tickets at the door. For safety reasons, we are adding a cap to the dance. Once we reach our max of ticket sales, the link to purchase tickets will close.

Are you ready for some football 
?? We are selling Super Bowl squares for our 4th Annual Super Bowl Squares Fundraiser to support our school. Last year, the school raised $1000 by selling 100 squares on a sheet; each square for $20.00. We are really hoping to top this year and sell two sheets!
How to Play: You buy one or more squares. Our Cheddar Up account does not allow for you to change the amount of boxes you would like to purchase on your own. We have created “items” to avoid some of the frustration of multiple checkouts. Our pre-created options are 1 square, 2 squares, 5 squares and 10 squares. Spread the word to other family and friends to take part in this fun fundraiser.
Use the Cheddar Up link https://superbowl-squares-2024-32772.cheddarup.com to purchase your squares. Click and purchase how many squares you want. The amount you pay will determine how many squares you need. Upon checkout, please add a note “Super Bowl Squares Fundraiser”, include your name and email address. EASY!!
We will put your name in a random box 1 – 100. Once all the boxes are filled we will randomly pick numbers 0 – 9 and add them across the top side and do the same along the left side down.
All purchasers will receive an emailed copy of the sheet completely filled out.
How it works: In the Super Bowl Squares, the winner is decided by looking at the last number in each teams’ score and then matching those digits on the grid to see where the squares intersect . (Example score: 14-17, the intersecting box would be 4&7).
The prizes are REAL money!! 
Prize Payout: All prizes are calculated at the end of each quarter throughout the game.
1st quarter – $150.00
Half time – $200.00
3rd quarter – $150.00
Final score – $500.00.
The remaining amount of $1000 would go to the school as a donation.

Fifth graders have moved up and classes are over. Congratulations to everyone on completion of the 2023-2024 school year!
This year the school community helped to raise money to fund some amazing things: Our Free events (Winter Walk and Family Fun Day), Staff welcome back from Winter Break breakfast, Fun Fridays, Staff appreciation week and brought back the Family Sweetheart Dance!
If you have a child in the school, you are automatically a member of the AmPark Parents Association. Get involved in some way. It’s never too late! Help out at a dance, sell some popcorn, buy some popcorn. Make a donation (any amount makes a difference). There are endless ways to support the school. If you’re not sure how, ask an Exec Board member, they will make suggestions.

New Families Orientation, Friday June 28th
Dear New AmPark Families,
Before we head off into summer and in order to give all of our new students a chance to get more acquainted with AmPark, we welcome you to an orientation session on Friday, June 28th! During this orientation, families will have an opportunity to hear about AmPark and get a tour of the school. Please know that this is not a meet the teacher, as meet the teacher/back to school nights will happen closer to the start of the school year. This event will be very similar to our AmPark tours back in the fall and winter.
There will be 2 sessions offered on Friday; one at 9:00 and one at 10:15. The sessions will be approximately 45 minutes and the same information will be shared in each. We hope that this orientation will allow our incoming students to get a sense of what they can look forward to in September and the school year ahead. (It will be here in a blink!)
